As a school we spent the morning cleaning up not only our school, but our surrounding areas, including the cricket oval, hall area, and the tennis club grounds. Each class had a designated area to clean up, and we found some interesting items!
Glad wrap and chip packets seemed to be the most common items found, but also found on the cricket oval were PVC piping and a car muffler! One of the Year 5 students found two dog leads on Sherwin Road. The school captains then conducted a waste audit to feed back to Clean Up Australia of what sort of rubbish was found in our area.
This was a great opportunity to bring responsibility back on to each person’s shoulders to be mindful of recycling where possible, and using the appropriate waste management bins.
