Snake Stretch: Converting Measurements

Today students had the challenge of stretching a snake as far as they could without snapping the lolly. Students had to draw a line and record the starting measurement of the snake in cm, stretch the snake as far as possible, then demonstrate the stretch of the snake using a dotted line. Students then needed to convert their stretch measurements to mm and m. Lastly students completed a problem solving task, converting measurements and comparing their best stretch.  It would be fantastic if parents could involve students when you are doing any conversions at home (cooking, renovating, etc.).
