Our school was lucky to receive a set of 10 “Makey-Makeys” (electronic tools) on loan from the University of Adelaide CSER to use until the end of term.

Interested students from year 4 to year 7 have the opportunity to explore using the Makey-Makeys every Monday lunch time this term under the guidance of a teacher. These sessions are designed to be self-directed and encourage students to discover, try ideas, take risks and have fun.

During our first session today, the students used the Makey-Makey boards, alligators cables, play dough and a special Scratch program to create mini pianos. Some of the underlying concepts in this activity include electricity, conductivity of materials and programming.

Everyone had fun, discovered something new and experienced a new wondering. We are meeting again next week to further our hands-on learning.
